Overview

SteamLine Luggage makes beautifully crafted, vintage-inspired luggage out of Dublin. Their products have been featured in Vogue, GQ, and Esquire, and they've built a serious following around pieces that people genuinely love travelling with. The brief was straightforward: build a Shopify store from the ground up that feels as premium as the product, handles a large and complex catalogue, and works flawlessly across every device.

The Challenge

SteamLine's product range is huge. Multiple collections, each with their own colourways and interior linings, spanning everything from carry-on spinners to hatboxes and accessories. The catalogue needed a system that could handle complex product relationships and variant combinations without the shopping experience ever feeling overwhelming. On top of that, the brand sits firmly in the luxury space, so the build had to be pixel perfect. There was no room for anything that felt clunky, slow, or like a compromise.

The Solution

We built a fully bespoke Shopify theme from scratch, designed entirely around SteamLine's catalogue and brand. The product architecture was one of the most involved parts of the build. We created a custom product stitching system that handles the relationships between collections, colourways, sizes, and product types, making it easy for customers to browse and find what they're looking for even with hundreds of items.

We also built a bespoke wishlist so customers can save pieces across sessions, which is important for a brand where people tend to build collections over time rather than buy everything in one go. The rest of the store was built with the same level of care: fast load times, smooth animations, and a layout that adapts cleanly across desktop, tablet, and mobile. For a luxury brand, every pixel matters, and that's exactly how we approached it.

The Results

The finished store does what SteamLine needed it to. The catalogue, despite its size, is easy to navigate. The product stitching system handles all the complexity behind the scenes so customers just see a clean, intuitive shopping experience. The site loads quickly, looks sharp on every screen size, and reflects the premium feel of the brand throughout. SteamLine now have a store that sits where it should for a brand featured in the likes of Vogue and GQ, built to handle growth as the range continues to expand.
